Data Identification
Abstract: The data set consists of plant species cover for 116 10 m x 10 m quadrats. Quadrats were spread systematically across the Moss Spur peatland. Cover estimate was evaluated using the pinpoint method, with a net of 100 points per quadrat. Environmental data were associated with each quadrat. They include water and peat pH and conductivity, peat depth and total peat calcium concentration. Measurements were taken during summer 2014. In addition to these data, water table levels were measured two times during the summer from 97 wells spread across the site. Measurement was done using blowpipes. The water table level value was interpolated for each quadrat location using GIS. Finally, the variables "distance from the road" and "distance from the peatland border" were calculated using GIS.
Purpose: Data were collected in order to find links between environmental factors and the composition of plant communities in a peatland that has been used for peat extraction. Samples were collected across the peatland, from various revegetation patterns.
